Every time we travel, I have one simple tradition.
I take a photo.
Not the typical postcard picture or the famous landmark everyone has seen a hundred times. Instead, I look for a view, building, street, or landmark that has one thing in common…
If you’ve been there, you know exactly where it is.
Those photos have become one of my favorite souvenirs.
Instead of collecting magnets or shot glasses, we’ve created a gallery wall in our home filled with places we’ve experienced together. Every framed photo represents a destination, an adventure, and a memory.
What I love most is watching friends and family stop in front of the wall.
How Our Travel Gallery Wall Became a Conversation Piece
Without fail, someone always says, “Wait…I know that place!”
Then the guessing begins.
“Is that London?”, “No, I think it’s Amsterdam.” “Wait…I’ve been there!”
It has become one of the biggest conversation pieces in our home.
Every photo has a story behind it.
A meal we’ll never forget.
A hidden street we stumbled upon.
A breathtaking view after an early morning hike.
A place where we laughed until our sides hurt.
A city that completely surprised us.
For our family, this wall isn’t just artwork. It’s a collection of memories.
Every time I walk by it, I’m reminded that the best part of traveling isn’t simply visiting somewhere new. It’s the experiences we shared while we were there.
One of the things I love most is that this is such an easy souvenir for anyone to create.
Creating Your Own Travel Memory Wall
You don’t need expensive artwork.
You don’t need professional photography.
Just take one meaningful photo during each trip—something that instantly reminds you of that destination. Print it in the same size, use matching frames, and before long you’ll have a gallery wall that’s completely unique to your family.
Years from now, you’ll walk past it and instantly remember the little moments.
The café where you had the best meal.
The beach where your kids played for hours.
The mountain view that took your breath away.
The city you can’t wait to visit again.
Travel memories don’t belong in a box or hidden on your phone.
Display them.
Relive them.
Talk about them.
Because the best souvenir you’ll ever bring home isn’t something you buy…
It’s the memories that make you smile every time you walk by.
So now I have to ask…
How many places can you recognize on our wall? And what destination would be the first one on yours?
“Collect memories, not souvenirs.”
